Many people make juice in a counter top juicer. However, juicers tend to be more expensive and not many people own juicers. Therefore, if you suddenly feel like making yourself a health drink, you can always use your blender. While using the right equipment is important, it is not a mandate as there are always ways around to get the result that you desire.
Juicing with a blender is definitely possible. Blenders can double up as juicers, and if used correctly, you will get the same result as a
juicer. Follow some of these steps to use your blender as a juicer and make some amazing, fresh juices.
Step #1-Wash the Fruits and Vegetables Thoroughly
Any fruits or vegetables that you plan to put in the blender needs to be cleaned thoroughly. If you must, use a brush to clean the soiled part. This is very important especially if you are using a smoothie blender. Some fruits or vegetables may not require peeling, so cleaning it properly is very important. However, even if you plan on peeling the fruit or vegetable and putting it in the blender, ensure that you wash it properly. All this will ensure that your healthy juice is not contaminated.
Step #2-Peel if Necessary
If you feel that the fruit requires peeling, peel it and place it on a clean cutting board. Unlike juicers, where you can extract the juice, blenders can use the entire fruit or vegetable as is. So, if you don’t want to use the skin of any fruit or vegetable,
you can always peel them, and remove the skin.
Step #3-Make Small Pieces
Make sure to cut the fruit or vegetable into smaller pieces and mix them together properly. So, for instance, if you are using apples, ensure that you take out any seeds and remove the entire core as well. If you like, you can also remove its skin.
If you are going to use hard fruits or vegetables like the apple, then you will need to add one half cup of water for every four apples you use. You can also add a little bit more water as necessary. Once you have added all the ingredients required for your juice, use the puree setting to get a similar consistency as a juicer.
Eye the blender to make sure everything is mixed together, stop the blender and taste the juice that you just prepared. If you find that the juice is not as sweet, you can add a little bit of sugar or a substitute of sugar, whatever works for you.
Step #6-The Final Run
Once you have altered the taste, use the liquefy setting to further blend the juice until you achieve your desired consistency. Let it sit in the blender for a bit so that all the flavors run together and combine to form one delicious juice.
While blenders are an alternative substitute for juicers, they work best when softer fruits and vegetables are used. Therefore, fruits like peaches, grapes, and oranges, and vegetables like ripe tomatoes and cucumber will blend well in the blender. The produce is much easier to get a nice thin consistency that you would otherwise get in a juicer. If you end up diluting the juice with too much water, then you will change the taste of the juice.

On the other hand, if you would like to use frozen cherries, you will have to thaw them before tossing them in the blender.
Put all the ingredients in the blender and let them blend well. Keep checking to see if everything is mixing well.
